I was talking to a friend a few days ago and the word "feminism" was brought up in the conversation, and despite being a refined 25 year old guy he thought it is about stuff like getting everyone to be a lesbian, promoting abortion, rebelling for dumb reasons and insulting men all the same. I was shocked!!
Fearing that maybe the majority of men think the same, I wish they'd know that it is not a bullet aimed right at them simply because we -women- could never take aim at you -men-, you who are our lovers, friends, children..etc
Its just that we are put in a culture where we are not all free to fulfill our destinies. We are put into categories that don't have anything to do with our hearts and our souls reaching their potential.
The categories hurt you too.
We can't bear to see you hurt, or to see your daughters and sons hurt, to see your future husband or wife hurt. We can't stand by and let you feel worthless because you've lost your job, or for any other reason. Feminism fights for you too. Even if you can't believe this, then think of women as fighting for your daugher, your mother, you sister, your wife.
When the women you love are safe and happy, aren't you much safer and happier too?
We are not enemies. We count you as some of our strongest supporters. We love your concience, your sense of justice, and we love your willingness to back it up with words and actions. we love your jokes when we are taking things too seriously.
we will fight beside you as long as you don't underestimate our strength...and we will remember that your power is nothing to fear if you grant us the same favor.
