When I was a kid, I used to play "the fainting game" with my younger brother and another little boy who lived next doors...it was all about acting like you've passed out..so yea, it was dumb...but it was fun...sometimes we'd try to cut off the oxygen supply to the brain and when that is done, we kinda achieved a type of "high".

But there was something about Faisal (our neighbor) that I couldn't quite understand...he was never happy..not even when we played..I remember one day when he'd just got back from his preschool and asked me : "why couldn't All the King's horses, And all the King's men put Humpty Together again?"
Well..I didn't know the answer then..though there could've been a million reason, I'm pretty convinvced that Nursery Rhymes are created just to depress kids...
and its not only humpty dumpty..there's also London bridge that's falling down and many others..

the thing is, on that same day Faisal died during our "fainting game"..the poor boy was either trying too much to win or was really sad coz of what happened to dumpty...i guess it was coz of dumpty after all.

it was the 24th of September...12 years ago.

Well I guess I am so emotional today, and kinda between the thin line between being okay and being really depressed, so your post actually made it for me...

Anywayz the guy is lucky I guess, dies young, in heaven now, not facing the troubles of life...

    Allah Yer7amo...

I agree with the godfather that he's probably lucky, especially that he was the dark type, but I wanna say something else, something about sadness, ... not depression.

I think there is something noble and conscious about sadness. You are usually sad when you feel things are not perfect, and you want them to be perfect, or you feel hurt for the imperfection of the universe. Some people are sad most of the time because they feel sad for other people, and they know that people suffer all the time, all the time in this universe, each and every moment there is a lot of suffering, injustice, and hurt.

And thus whenever I hear of a person who is sad most of the time, I tend to respect his sadness and assume it is for noble and sane reasons, and not simply depression.

we all played that fainting game i guess..damn it.
    and it's quite too sad..
    Allah yer7amo.

He actually died while you were playing the game?

Anyway, I have a thought.. maybe he was sad because he felt he was going to die rather than died because he felt sad. A lot of people dying at a young age can feel it.

its prett difficult to have a death experience of a friend so young ..

All games are dangerous if they exitted fun to seriousity.. At least to me..

death scene while playing a game is something horrible.. i remembered a scene of a player of Benfica Portoguese football club who was died on the pitch while playing a match.. the whole team plus the competitors and the referre were broken down.. a day that is not forgettable by whoever who was in the stadium then..

hoping that the next days carry beautiful and optimistic memories, we ramadan kareem..

  • At 11:56 PM, Blogger Veeeva

    yes..u r right...ramdan kareem to u too ya sherief :)

how sad!! so sorry... it must have been a terrible experience for a young person to deal so early on with death. hope the rest of your days are free of sadness (although not a very reasonable/feasible wish!)

  • At 11:13 AM, Blogger Spontaneousnessity

please tell me this is a story or has some kinda hint that am not getting =/

and as per humpty dumpty? I never understood how can they put humpty dumpty togather again if they blame the horses for not being able to put him togather again, HELLO!! they're horses!! how can they! I know I could have saved him if I was there

  • At 1:12 PM, Blogger Veeeva

    maya:
    thx..

    spontaneousnessity:
also, where's the part that says humpty dumpty is an egg?

first, about nursery rhymes, they are sad. so much of it's about death and such. i remember being depressed about many a rhyme when i was a child. re: your friend, i think it's sad that he died that day. don't know if it was the fainting game or what.. but the game sounds sorta dangerous. but, when you're a kid/child, you don't think about it really. it's just the excitement surrounding what you're doing.

this is a nice pic but also a sad pic. i like the blue tear drop coming down from his eye.
